How is OxyGeneo different from other Oxygen facials?
First, there are actually several types of “Oxygen Facials”, such as:
- Enzymatic facials such as O2 Lift by Image
- Oxygen facial products that have oxygen infused into them
- Facials where the technician blows oxygen onto the skin using a machine
- OxyGeneo as above
For an O2 Lift type facial the skin is cleansed, exfoliated and then hydrated with stem cells and oxygen infused products to increase blood flow and oxygen to the skin. The increased blood flow is the only mechanism that would actually increase O2 to the skin but this is overall a very luxurious and effective facial.
For any facial that has “oxygen infused” there is actually no scientific evidence that the oxygen can penetrate into the skin, or at least past the first layers of cells. That’s why we have lungs to breathe 😉 .
For a facial where a technician blows oxygen on the skin, this might feel nice but there is no scientific mechanism that this will benefit intact skin anymore than walking around in the world day to day.
OxyGeneo is different because it produces a physiological response from within the body to stimulate more oxygen to the cells. So oxygen is coming from within versus being applied on top of the skin. In addition this facial uses ultrasound waves and massage to increase blood flow and push serums and hydrating products deeper into the skin.
What about hyperbaric oxygen do you ask? Well that is high amounts of oxygen that you breathe in and your circulation delivers blood with high oxygen content to your tissues. For an open wound it may also speed healing because the outer layer of skin that blocks oxygen from being absorbed into the skin is not present. So it is much different than attempting to deliver Oxygen to intact skin without breathing it in.
What does the Tripollar RF technology do with the OxyGeneo facial?
This is a radiofrequency treatment that sends controlled gentle heat waves through the skin to tone and tighten without pain or discomfort. It can even be used around eyes and in other delicate areas of the face. However, this part of the device is not offered in the United states.
