We refer to Botox injections as “Tox injections” to include all popular brands of neurotoxins on the market: Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Daxxify.
Tox injections are one of our most loved treatments, because they provide our clients with natural appearing results, to soften lines and wrinkles that form at rest & in motion.
Overall- Tox injections provide a more refreshed and well-rested look, all while being a preventative treatment, too.
What's the difference between Botox & Xeomin?
Botox Injections
Botox is the original neurotoxin on the market with the most data and research, making it a reliable neurotoxin, that all other brands are compared to. Botox does contain complexing proteins (additional unnecessary proteins).
Xeomin Injections
Xeomin is double purified to remove any unnecessary proteins, making it the “cleanest” form of neurotoxin. Xeomin does not contain complexing proteins so it less likely to cause reactions or resistance.
Botox/xeomin FAQ's
Botox injections ( or Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau, Daxxify injections) last around 3-4 months. Small areas with more movement, such as the lips or crows feet (think smiling, talking, eating), tend to not last as long. Larger areas with less movement like the glabella or forehead tend to last longer.
A Tox appointment at Elite consists of first talking with your provider and asking questions regarding your treatment. After that, your injector will assess the areas of concern, as you to make certain facial movements, in order for them to identify the muscles and their movement. While you are making these facial movements, they will take before images and mark the areas being treated. They will then cleanse the area throughly and prep for injections.
The actual injections are very quick and most people find them to be very tolerable. After injections are completed, a soothing nectar is applied to the areas treated, and post-care instructions and our after-care kit will be given to you. In your kit will be a proper dose of zinc for you to take, which helps to make your Tox last longer!
After a Tox appointment you can expect the injection sites to be slightly raised and red, like little bug bites. These red, raised areas come down within an hour or so after injections. Bruising is also rare, but normal, and heals relatively quickly. Your injector will provide you with after care instructions to follow, and zinc to take, to help your Tox last longer. If you are ever concerned or have questions always call or email your provider.
- Serious side effects of Botox, or any neurotoxin, includes pain at injection site, eyelid drooping, muscle weakness, allergic reaction, botulinum poisoning (very rare and only in very high doses), vision problems, and breathing problems.
- Mild side effects include redness, swelling, asymmetrical results, heavy brows, and bruising.
When injected cosmetically into healthy people, side effect are rare or very mild. Pre-screening is especially important to prevent serious side effects! So, it is important to see an injector who has real medical background and training on how to handle, assess, and prevent any side effects, associated with Botox injections.
*This is just a list of possible side effects/risks. Always consult with your injector/provider for a list of all potential side effects/risks.*
-A lip flip with Tox injections provides a more natural and subtle enhancement of the upper lip, making it appear fuller and more youthful (this doesn’t replace the full effects of lip filler).
-Tox injections for a “Gummy Smile” helps to lessen the amount of gum showing when smiling.
The three most common areas to get Tox injections include: Forehead, Glabella, and Crowsfeet. There are a few other areas that people can get Tox injections which include; bunny lines, DAO’s, lip flip, masseter muscles (jawline), platysmal bands, chin, and in the trapezius muscles (aka Barbie Botox).
When injected correctly, people will not be able to tell you have Botox done. You should still look like yourself, just a little more refreshed and youthful. We always say “the best injectables are undetectable”.
In general, people can see results from Tox injections in as little as 3-4 days. However, it does take a full 14 days for the medication to fully settle before the final results show. Read more on how Botox settles with images on this blog HERE.
