Cheek filler usually lasts around 12 months depending on the product used, the quantity, and how an individual metabolizes the product. However, if an injector uses a bio stimulating product such as Radiesse or Sculptra, clients can see results last longer (up to 2 years). This is because bio-stimulating products help to stimulate the production of collagen, too.

A cheek filler appointment at Elite consists of first talking with your provider and asking questions regarding your treatment. Once your injector assesses your anatomy, understands your goals, and takes before images, they will then cleanse the area throughly and prep for injections. The actual injections are quick and our providers do everything they can to keep you comfortable. After injections are completed, a soothing nectar is applied to the injection sites. Then, your injector will give you your post-care instructions and your after-care kit will be given to you to take home.

After a cheek filler appointment, you can expect your cheeks to be very swollen, red, bruised, and tender to the touch. Swelling typically peaks around 24-48 hours after initial injections and then swelling comes down over the following 10-14 days. Bruising is normal and heals relatively quickly. Your injector will provide you with after care instructions with “do’s and don’ts” to follow, and a soothing nectar to apply while your cheeks heal. If you are ever concerned or have questions always call your provider ASAP. 

Mild side effects include: redness, pain, swelling and bruising at the site. 

Serious side effects are rare, but include: infection, vascular occlusion, allergic reaction, filler migration, and nodules.

-Enjoy some pineapple, or take bromelain tablets to prevent swelling

–Avoid harsh topical products on the area such as retinol for 48 hours minimum

-Let your injecting provider know if you have had any recent illness, vaccines, or dental work
